Icicle Lights
Different strokes for different folks when it comes to decorating houses and having these readily available is a must. Icicle lights on a residential home really stand out. You can buy a variety of colors when it comes to icicle lights as well as different lengths on the drops. Longer drops always stand out more.
While they may look great, there are some downfalls when it comes to Icicle lights. First off, the way they come packaged is an installers nightmare. Typically all the drops are twisted tied and it makes it difficult to stretch them out. Another downfall to icicle lights is they typically only come in 5′-7′ lengths which can make it challenging when you have a run that either needs a few feet or may be a few feet too long. The best way to overcome this is to just double back on the left over run.
Patio Lights
Patio lights have become very popular these days at restaurants, businesses and residential homes. Patio, or Bistro lights, add an elegant touch to any project you are working on. There a two main types of patio lights that we will discuss, lights with a drop and non drop.
These types of lights have what is called a E27 base. This is a larger base than the E12, C7 socket and E17, C9 sockets. You can also find Bisto lights in E17 base but these are typically not made for permanent installs.
There are many types of bulbs that can be used which we will cover in the lesson.
Types of Bistro
Below are two of the most popular Bistro lights. They both have the E27 base but as you can see, very different styles. When it comes to the two types, it is really a matter of preference.

S14
The most popular style of bulb when it comes to Bistro lights is the S14 bulb. The S14 has a unique shape that stands out from the rest. You can find them in both glass and plastic.
G Series
The G series is a rounded bulb that can also be utilized in Bistro lights.
Both of the above bulbs come in a variety of colors including RGB. As seen in the above pictures, they both are available in a smooth surface or a faceted diamond cut surface.
